We, the undersigned, express our utmost concern and condemnation of the current Israeli massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The barbaric attack which Israel has launched on Gaza has seen the loss of hundreds of innocent lives and whilst the numbers of dead and injured escalates, there seems no end in sight to this unjust attack, with Israeli officials suggesting that this is only the beginning.

These attacks against innocent Palestinian civilians are yet another example of Israel's blatant disregard of international laws and the response from the international community has been overwhelmingly silent. The images which have made their way on to our screens will inevitably send shockwaves throughout the entire world and will create further hostility towards Israel and those who support such horrific actions.

In light of the above, and with the actions of Israel amounting to war crimes by international law, we call upon the Prime Minister and all Members of Parliament to demand that Israel immediately stops its bloody campaign in the Palestinian territories in general and the Gaza Strip in particular. We urge you to condemn such barbarity and put pressure upon the Israeli government to allow vital humanitarian aid to reach the impoverished Gazan population.

כאילו לא די בכיבוש, בדיכוי המתמשך והברוטלי של האוכלוסיה הפלסטינית, בעידוד ההתנחלויות, במצור על עזה - הגיעו עכשיו ההפצצות על אוכלוסיית עזה: גברים, נשים, זקנים, ילדים. מאות הרוגים, מאות פצועים מדממים, בתי חולים קורסים, מחסן התרופות המרכזי של עזה הופצץ, הספינה Free Gaza של תנועת DIGNITY המביאה ציוד חירום רפואי ומספר רופאים לעזה, הופגזה גם היא. ישראל חזרה לביצוע פשעי מלחמה גלויים, חמורים מכל מה שידענו בעבר.

אמצעי התקשורת הישראליים כמעט ואינם חושפים את צופיהם לזוועות, ואף לא לקיומן של ביקורות חריפות על הפשעים הללו. הסיפור המסופר הוא אחיד. המתנגדים הישראליים מוקעים כבוגדים. דעת הקהל, כולל זו של השמאל הציוני, תומכת במדיניות הישראלית ללא ביקורת, ללא סייג.

מדיניות ההרס הנפשעת של ישראל לא תחדל ללא התערבות מסיבית של הקהילה הבינלאמית.

אולם זו לא ממהרת להתערב, למעט גינויים רשמיים רפים יותר או פחות. ארצות-הברית יצאה בגלוי בתמיכה באלימות הישראלית, ואירופה אמנם משמיעה קולות גינוי, אלא שאין בה גורמים השוקלים ברצינות לסגת מן המתנה שזה אך ניתנה לישראל: ההעלאה בדרג הסכמי שיתוף הפעולה בין האיחוד האירופי וישראל.

בעבר, ידעו מדינות העולם להילחם במדיניות נפשעת. החרם על דרום-אפריקה נשא פירות. אולם ישראל מטופלת בכפפות של משי: יחסי המסחר אתה משגשגים, קשרים בין הקהילות האקדמיות, התרבותיות והספורטיביות נמשכים ומתהדקים ואף זוכים לגיבוי מדיני, קשרים דיפלומטיים חמים ממשיכים להתקיים.

גיבוי בינלאומי זה צריך להיפסק. זו הדרך היחידה בה ניתן לעצור את האלימות הישראלית, שאינה יודעת שובע.

אנו קוראים למדינות העולם - עיצרו את האלימות הישראלית, אל תתנו יד להמשך הכיבוש הברוטלי. אמצו מדיניות של גינוי, של הסתיגות גלויה והתנתקות מפשעי ישראל.

אנו קוראים למדינות העולם לאמץ את הקריאה של המרכזים הפלשתינים לזכויות אדם. הקריאה דורשת כי:

האו"ם יפעיל סנקציות על ישראל כדי שישראל תמלא את מחויבותה לשמירה על זכויות אדם;

המדינות החתומות על אמנות ז'נבה יכפו על ישראל לקיימן;

ומוסדות האיחוד האירופי ומדינותיו יכפו על ישראל לנהוג על פי החוק הבינלאומי לשמירת זכויות אדם, תוך הפעלת סנקציות ומניעת שדרוג היחסים בין ישראל והאיחוד האירופי.




In support of the Palestinian human rights community call for international action


As if the occupation was not enough, the brutal ongoing repression of the Palestinian population, the construction of settlements and the siege of Gaza- now comes the bombardment of the civilian population: men, women, old folks and children. Hundreds of dead, hundreds of injured, overwhelmed hospitals, and the central medicine depot of Gaza bombed. The ship Dignity of the Free Gaza movement which brought emergency medical supplies and a number of physicians was also attacked. Israel has returned to openly committing war crimes, worse than what we have seen in a long time.

Israeli media do not expose their viewers to the horrors and to the voices of severe criticism of these crimes. The story told is uniform. Israeli dissidents are denounced as traitors. Public opinion including that of the Zionist left supports the Israeli policy uncritically and without reservation.

Israel's destructive criminal policy will not cease without a massive intervention by the international community. However, except for some rather weak official condemnation, the international community is reluctant to intervene,. The United States openly supports the Israeli violence and Europe, although voicing some condemnation, is unwilling to seriously consider withdrawing the “gift” it handed Israel by upgrading its relations with the European Union.

In the past the world knew how to fight criminal policies. The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves: its trade relations are flourishing, academic and cultural cooperation continue and intensify with diplomatic support.

This international backing must stop. That is the only way to stop the insatiable Israeli violence.

We are calling on the world to stop Israeli violence and not allow the continuation of the brutal occupation. We call on the world to Condemn and not become an accomplice in Israel's crimes.

In light of the above, we call on the world to implement the call by Palestinian human rights organizations which urges:

• “The UN Security Council to call an emergency session and adopt concrete measures, including the imposition of sanctions, in order to ensure Israel's fulfillment of its obligations under international humanitarian law.
• The High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions to fulfil their obligation under common Article 1 to ensure respect for the provisions of the Conventions, taking appropriate measures to compel Israel to abide by its obligations under international humanitarian law, in particular placing pivotal importance on the respect and protection of civilians from the effects of the hostilities.
• The High Contracting Parties to fulfil their legal obligation under Article 146 of the Fourth Geneva Convention to prosecute those responsible for grave breaches of the Convention.
• EU institutions and member states to make effective use of the European Union Guidelines on promoting compliance with international humanitarian law (2005/C 327/04) to ensure Israel complies with international humanitarian law under paragraph 16 (b), (c) and (d) of these guidelines, including the adoption of immediate restrictive measures and sanctions, as well as cessation of all upgrade dialogue with Israel. “

وكأنّ الاحتلال، وقمع الفلسطينيين المتواصل والوحشي، وتوسيع المستوطنات، والحصار على غزة، لا تكفي كلها، ليأتي الآن القصف اللاحق بسكاّن غزة: الرجال، النساء، المُسنين والأطفال. مئات القتلى، مئات الجرحى النازفين، المستشفيات آيلة للانهيار، قصف مخزن الأدوية المركزيّ في غزة، السفينةFree Gaza التابعة لحركة DIGNITY والتي تجلب معدات الطوارئ الطبية وعددًا من الأطباء إلى غزة- قُصفت هي أيضًا. لقد عادت إسرائيل إلى ارتكاب جرائم حرب علنيّة، هي أخطر من كلّ ما عرفناه حتى الآن.

وتكاد وسائل الإعلام الإسرائيلية لا تكشف أمام مشاهديها عن الفظائع ولا حتى عن وجود نقد لاذع ضدّ هذه الجرائم. القصة التي تُحكى قصة متجانسة. المعارضون الإسرائيليون يُنبذون كخائنين. الرأي العام، بما فيه اليسار الصهيونيّ، يدعم السياسة الإسرائيلية من دون رقابة ومن دون تحفّظ.

سياسة التدمير الإسرائيلية الإجرامية لن تتوقف من دون تدخل جارف من طرف المجتمع الدوليّ. إلا أنّ هذا المجتمع لا يسارع إلى التدخّل، ما خلا الإستنكارات الرسمية، الواهنة منها والأكثر هونًا. الولايات المتحدة خرجت بدعم علنيّ للعنف الإسرائيلي ومع أنّ أوروبا تُصدر أصواتَ استنكار إلا أنها تفتقر لجهات تفكّر جديًا في التراجع عن الهدية التي مُنحت إلى إسرائيل للتوّ: ترقية مستوى اتفاقيات التعاون بين الاتحاد الأوروبي وإسرائيل.

فيما مضى، كانت دول العالم تعرف كيف تحارب السياسات الإجرامية؛ المقاطعة على جنوب أفريقيا أتت بثمارها. إلا أنّ إسرائيل تُعامَل بقفّازات من حرير: العلاقات التجارية معها في ازدهار، العلاقات بين المجموعات الأكاديمية والثقافية والرياضية مستمرّة ومتعزّزة وحتى أنها تحظى بدعم سياسيٍّ، إلى جانب استمرار العلاقات الدبلوماسية الدافئة.

على هذا الدعم الدولي أن يتوقف. هذه هي الطريق الوحيدة التي يمكن من خلالها وقف العنف الإسرائيليّ الذي لا يرتوي.

نحن نطالب دول العالم: أوقفوا العنف الإسرائيلي ولا تكونوا عونًا لاستمرار الاحتلال الوحشيّ. تبنّوا سياسة استنكار وتحفظ علنيّ والانفصال عن جرائم إسرائيل.

نحن ندعو دول العالم إلى تبني مطالب التنظيمات الفلسطينية لحقوق الإنسان، التي تطالب بـ:

أن تقوم الأمم المتحدة بتسيير عقوبات ضد إسرائيل كي تقوم إسرائيل بممارسة واجبها في الحفاظ على حقوق الإنسان؛

أن تقوم الدول المُوقّعة على مواثيق جنيف بإجبار إسرائيل على تطبيق هذه المواثيق؛

أن تقوم مؤسسات الاتحاد الأوروبي ودُوله بإرغام إسرائيل على التصرّف وفق القوانين الدولية الحافظة لحقوق الإنسان، من خلال فرض عقوبات ومنع ترقية العلاقات بين إسرائيل والاتحاد ا nternazionale


Come se non bastassero l'occupazione , la brutale repressione della popolazione Palestinese in corso, la costruzione degli insediamenti e l'assedio di Gaza- ora accade il bombardamento della popolazione civile: uomini, donne, anziani e bambini. Centinaia di morti, centinaia di feriti, ospedali colmi e il deposito centrale di medicinali di Gaza bombardato. La nave dignita' del movimento Gaza libera (free Gaza) , che trasportava rifornimenti e medicinali di emergenza , insieme ad un gruppo di medici e' stata attaccata. Israele e' tornata a commettere apertamente crimini di guerra, peggiori di tutto cio' che abbiamo visto ultimamente.

I media Israeliani nascondono ai loro spettatori gli orrori e le severe critiche di questi crimini. La storia raccontata e' uniforme. I dissidenti Israeliani vanno denunciati come traditori. L'opinione pubblica, inclusa quella della sinistra sionista appoggia la politica Israeliana senza critiche ne riserve.

La politica criminale e di distruzione di Israele non cessera' senza un intervento massiccio da parte della comunita' Internazionale. Tuttavia, eccetto per alcune deboli condanne ufficiali, la comunita' Internazionale e' riluttante ad intervenire. Gli Stati Uniti d'America appoggiano apertamente la violenza Israeliana e l'Europa, anche se dichiara qualche denuncia, non pensa seriamente di ritirare il "regalo" dato ad Israele tramite il miglioramento dei suoi rapporti con l'Unione Europea.
Nel passato il mondo sapeva come combattere le politiche criminali. Il boicottaggio del Sud Africa era stato efficacie, ma Israele viene trattata con i guanti: le suoe relazioni commerciali stanno prosperando, la cooperazione accademica e culturale continua e si intensifica attraverso l'appoggio diplomatico.

Questo sostegno Internazionale deve essere fermato. E' l'unico modo per fermare l'insaziabile violenza Israeliana.

Facciamo un appello al mondo per fermare la violenza Israeliana e di non permettere la continuazione della sua brutale occupazione. Noi ci appelliamo al mondo per condannare e per non diventare complici negli crimini Israeliani.

Alla luce di quanto detto, ci appelliamo al mondo per implementare l'appello delle organizzazioni dei diritti umani Palestinesi. Le quali richiedono:

• “Al Consiglio di Sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite di convocare una sessione di emergenza per adottare misure concrete, inclusa l'imposizione di sanzioni, per assicurare l'attuazione degli obblighi di Israele sotto la legge umanitaria Internazionale.
• Le parti contraenti della convenzione di Ginevra devono adempiere pienamente agli obblighi derivanti dall'articolo 1, per assicurare il rispetto delle disposizioni delle convenzione, prendendo misure appropriate per costringere Israele a rispettare i suoi obblighi derivanti dal diritto umanitario Internazionale, in particolare dando un importanza cruciale al rispetto e alla protezione dei civili dall'effetto del ostilita'.
• Le parti contraenti di applicare pienamente g;li obblighi derivanti dall'articolo 146 della quarta convenzione di Ginevra, ed accusare e perseguire i responsabili di gravi violazioni della convenzione stessa.
• Gli istituzioni delle UE e i suoi stati membri di usare in modo effettivo le linee guida del'Unione Europea nel promuvere la conformita' con il diritto umanitario Internazionale (2005/C 327/04) assicurandosi che Israele osservi la legge umanitaria Internazionale sotto il paragrafo 16 (b), (c) e (d) di queste linee guida, inclusa l'adozione di immediate misure restritive e sanzioni, questo come la cessazione di qualsiasi dialogo con Israele. “

Petition in support of call by United Nations General Assembly President Miguel D’escoto Brockmann for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel

During the 57th Plenary Meeting on the Question of Palestine, President of the General Assembly Miguel D'escoto Brockmann broke a diplomatic taboo by describing Israeli policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as similar to those of the defunct apartheid regime in South Africa.

Brockmann also urged the United Nations to use the term ‘apartheid’ without fear, and recommended that the United Nations

"....should consider following the lead of a new generation of civil society, who are calling for a similar non-violent campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions to pressure Israel to end its violations."

Keep Interpal's Bank Account Open

We, the undersigned, are extremely concerned that Interpal, the only UK charity dedicated to relieving the suffering of the people of Palestine, has been asked to clear all funds and has been threatened by Lloyds TSB to have their account closed with no good reason.

Interpal is a reputable charity known for its life saving services it provides in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Gaza is currently under an illegal siege and 80% of its' 1.5 million population are dependant on external aid for survival.

In recent years, Interpal has consistently faced undue criticism and has been wrongly linked to terrorist activities by those who seek to tarnish the reputation of the organisation. However, it has routinely been the subject of a Charities Commission investigation and on all occasions it has been cleared of any link to terrorism or terrorist activity. On January 4th 2007, the charities commission concluded that Interpal is 'a well run and committed organisation which carries out important work in a part of the world where there is great hardship and suffering'. End Israeli Occupation

We the undersigned, believing that a just solution for the Palestinians is the only way to secure peace for all, call for full realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people as affirmed in UN General Assembly resolution 3236:

• the right to self-determination without external interference;
• the right to national independence and sovereignty;
• the right of Palestinians to return to the homes and properties from which they have been displaced and uprooted.
